That Provincetown show was two years ago, and here I am finally adding some story material to go with it. I have been guilty of thinking Substack and yet not following through. That will change now. I plan to add of my favorite photographs to the mix, and probably add some stories to go with the pictures. But that’s only the beginning: I will to pass along some stories about my career and stories I have long been been thinking about. New stuff? As it happens.
I’ve always found writing to be harder to do than photography—except that the feeling when you do get something written that is worthy is at least as pleasant as making a great photograph.
I’m starting this effort with the first photograph I ever made:
This is a snap of my brother Tom. It’s on the first roll of film that ever went through the Nikon S2 camera I bought in 1957. I had no idea I might actually be a photographer until I saw this picture. It inspired me to continue to express myself through the medium of silver based imagery. I bought the camera, it should be noted, because I was impressed with the team of LIFE magazine photographers who came thru the darkrooms where I worked as a flunky “hypo bender”.
You're up and running!
Good idea!
